- NEP focuses on investing in companies in the technology, healthcare, and
consumer product industries. Within the technology sector we concentrate on
investing in companies in the Internet, software, hardware, and communications
industries. In healthcare, we target biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical
device, and e-health companies. In consumer products, we seek companies that can
offer distinctive products in a mass-market retail channel setting.
Stage of Development
- We seek both early and later stage companies that are beyond the concept stage,
have demonstrable technology, and evidence of product or service acceptance.
We generally prefer investments in the range of $500,000 to $10,000,000. For
companies with greater financial needs, NEP has a strong history of syndicating with
other reputable venture capital or strategic investors. We participate in all stages
of a company's equity financing needs, from a first institutional round of equity to
a mezzanine round before an IPO.
Growth Potential
- NEP concentrates on investing in companies that target potentially large
markets. In addition, NEP works closely with portfolio companies in setting goals
and financial objectives to maximize the overall financial return of the company and
its investors.
Liquidity Options
- We seek to invest in companies that offer the potential for a relatively early
initial public offering or sale to a strategic buyer. We also have assisted our
portfolio companies in achieving liquidity by way of a sale to a financial investor
or through a recapitalization.
Investment Process
Evaluation Process
After we receive your business plan, NEP will review the plan and if the company
meets our investment criteria, NEP will arrange to meet with your company and the
management team.
Throughout the due diligence process, we will evaluate the management, the target
industry, and the product or service. We may ask our consultants and advisors to
assist in evaluating the business opportunity.
If it is necessary, we will recommend and bring into the process potential
value-added co-investors.
Post Funding
We pride ourselves in being a value-added investor by staying actively involved
with our portfolio companies. We will work closely with the company to identify
and attract executive talent, board members, advisors, and consultants.
Additionally, we can assist in market strategy, entrepreneurial management, and
business development. We have a history of helping our companies expand their
network with introductions to institutional fundraising sources, potential partners,
and customers.
